cookies & storage
Cookies and browser storage · Cypress Investment Research
Taiwan has no dedicated cookie statute; the banner on this site is our own practice, kept to the standard we would want as readers. Here is everything it can possibly touch.
This page is the complete and honest inventory. If something is not listed here, this site does not use it.
The one storage item this site uses
| Storage item | Type | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|---|
cypress-consent | localStorage key (first-party) | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected the cookie notice, so the banner does not return | Until you change it here or clear your browser data | This site’s own code, on this domain |
That is the whole table. The value stored is a single word — accepted or rejected — written by your own browser, readable only by pages on this domain, and never sent anywhere.
What this site does not use
- No HTTP cookies. The site sets none — not session, not preference, not advertising.
- No analytics. Nothing counts you; no Google Analytics, no self-hosted statistics, no heatmap.
- No third-party storage or requests. Fonts, styles, scripts and photographs are served from this domain. Your browser loads no third-party assets and no ad, social or tracking pixels exist in the code.
- No consent-dependent features. There is nothing to unblock after “accepting” — which is why rejecting changes nothing about how the site works for you.
Why the banner exists at all
Honesty about storage felt better than silent silence: the banner is this desk’s own practice, aligned with the transparency principles of Taiwan’s Personal Data Protection Act (個人資料保護法). It is not required by any Taiwanese cookie-consent statute — because there isn’t one at the time this notice was written — and we do not claim otherwise.
Changing your choice
Buttons below write the same storage key the banner does. Withdrawing clears the stored word, and the banner will simply ask again on your next visit. You can also clear site data in your browser settings, which removes the key entirely.
If buttons are unavailable to you (script blocked, storage unavailable), clearing this site’s data in your browser achieves the same result manually.
The impact of rejecting
None, functionally. Every article, chart, topic page and the inquiry form work identically with the choice set to rejected. The accept/reject split exists so the storage is truthful, not so access can be rationed.
Cross-reference: how inquiries are handled is described in the privacy notice.
